Being a parent can test you right to your very limits at times! It’s something you have to experience to truly understand. When I was pregnant I had all of these idealised ideas in my head about how things would be when our twins were born. I don’t think I was alone in thinking that though. I imagine a lot of other expectant parents probably feel the same way.
Hindsight is a funny thing isn’t it! Looking back now I can laugh about how naive I was at times, but it’s all a learning curve and one that I’m very mush still enjoying. I thought I’d write a light-hearted post about the truths of being a parent.
1. It doesn’t matter how big your bed is, you will always end up with at least one small child in it and you’ll always have the least room
2. Stepping into the shower is a like an army assault course as you avoid standing on the bath toys
3. Your child will hear you open a bar of chocolate from the other end of the house and will appear at your feet begging for a bite before you can even finish opening it
4. Regardless of the time of day or the company present your child will most likely always want to be naked
5. You can guarantee that as soon as you’ve finished strapping your kids into the car, one of them will need the toilet
6. You will never have a complete conversation with another adult again because there will always be a little person interrupting or climbing on you
7. At the very moment that you need your children to be on their best behaviour, whether it be a wedding, funeral or other important moment in life, you can guarantee that your child will be the worst behaved child in the world
8. If you try to hide vegetables in pasta, potato or any other type of food – your child will know and they will have a tantrum about how you tried to deceive them
9. Your purse or wallet will always be empty
10. …but your heart will always will be full

This is very true. Our bath is a death trap, and there always seems to be a full nappy as we're leaving the house … I wouldn't change it for the world though!

I absolutely love this! My son is only a year old, and he takes up soooo much room in the bed, that I'm often sleeping on a small space at the end. The heart exploding with love thing..that's so worth it though (: #TheList

Yes, very true! I don't know how they can always identify chocolate being opened! I think mine know when I even consider opening chocolate!
