2017 Holiday Inspiration
A few days ago I was talking to a friend about the best places I’ve been holiday. This was mainly pre-children, but of course since having children, we’ve been to some amazing places as well.
If you’re looking for some holiday inspiration, I thought I’d share my travels with you. Before my husband and I had children, the majority of our holidays were short city breaks.
Rome will always be one of my favourite holiday destinations. My husband and I have been to Rome twice. We love everything about it. Visiting the coloseum is always a highlight, as is eating ice cream whilst sat next to the Fontana Di Trevi. We also spent the day wandering around Vatican City which was truly incredible. I’d love to go back to Italy one day and explore further afield.
Valencia is another favourite. My husband and I visited the Oceanografic which is home to sharks, beluga whales, penguins and more! Thinking about it, this would be a pretty cool place to go now that we have children!
Another of my all time favourite holidays pre-children is Marrakech. This truly was a holiday like no other we’d ever been on before. I was a little nervous about going, but there was no need for it! We had such an amazing time! We stayed in a little family run riad, which only had a handful of rooms and a tiny swimming pool, but the views from the rooftop were amazing, as was the breakfast! My husband and I would spend hours getting lost in the souks looking at all of the things on sale.
Marrakech’s main square, Djemaa el-Fna, was magically transformed from busy market during the day to a street-food festival every night! We even took an excursion to visit the Ouzoud Waterfall and drank freshly made mint tea. It was a trip of a lifetime!
Since having children though, we’ve also had some fabulous holidays. Majorca was one of those. We went all inclusive which was nice as it meant we didn’t have to worry about cooking, but on occasion the pool got a bit crowded with sun worshippers! In hindsight I think it would be nice to return to Majorca again, but perhaps stay in a villa instead. That was we could the pool to ourselves!
