A day out at Heath Park Miniature Railway
Entry cost £1.50 each, so as a family of four this meant a total of £6. There is usually always a long queue to get in, so it’s advisable that you arrive early, although the queue does move pretty quickly.
Once inside, you’ll also need to buy your tickets. Train ride tickets cost £1.50 per adult and under fours are free, or you can buy 8 tickets for £12, which is what we did. If you want to ride the tram, you’ll need to buy a tram ticket too which is also £1.50.
R was really excited about going on the tram. It can fit a good number of people on and although it’s a short ride lasting around one minute, it’s still enjoyable as you go under the bridges and passed the trains through the park.
As mentioned above there are two train tracks. One by the main entrance and one on the other side over the bridge, or via the new footpath.
The train by the entrance goes through a tunnel which the kids love!
As well as the trains, there’s plenty of green space for children to play, and you can also bring a picnic. We actually went to a children’s birthday here back in 2015 which was the first time we visited. You can hire a gazebo (weather permitting), as well as tables and chairs.
On our recent visit we spent around two hours here. There are a number of car parks, but they get busy pretty quickly. We parked down by the play park as it’s a larger car park and only a short walk. plus the girls had a quick play in the park on the way back to the car.
They even have a Santa special which sells out pretty quickly! Me and my friends will going along on the day to try and get some tickets for this!
If you’re in the area on a day that they’re open to the public, I’d definitely recommend a visit!

When my son was little he was obsessed with trains! He would have adored this. I didn’t know it existed to be honest. Looks like you had fun as a family

Oh my goodness! You’ve taken me down memory lane. I used to go to this as a child. I can’t believe I haven’t taken the kids there. I’ll have to try and do the Santa special x
