AD|Packing your car for a camping trip
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our upcoming camping trip. We rather optimistically rebooked our cancelled 2020 camping holiday for later this year. It was cancelled due to the lockdown in our country, but as the country is slowly opening back up again, my thoughts have turned to brighter times.

I really do hope we manage to go on this camping holiday, but I also know that we need to invest in a roof box. As a family of four, my car just isn’t big enough to carry everything we need to go camping.
In 2019 we did manage to cram everything into my car however, when it came to packing up to go home, it wasn’t as easy to get everything back into the car. Even though we had less stuff for the return journey, it took us two attempts to get it all back into the car!
At first I thought a roof box was the way to go, but in hindsight I have been thinking about bringing an extra car instead. After all I could simply arrange for some cheap temporary car insurance and then I know for sure that I’d have enough room to take all that we need, but also to bring everything back again without the hassle of multiple attempts at playing car jenga!
The last trip was pretty stressful when it came to cramming everything back into the car again! It was raining, the kids were bored sat in the car while my husband and I got drenched in our attempts to figure out what order we’d put everything into the car in the first place! Was it tent first and then sleeping bags on top, or camping table first followed by the cool box? Perhaps we should have made a list or even drawn a diagram!
One thing’s for sure, on our next camping trip we’ll be bringing less stuff or definitely another car!

We’ve just come back from our first proper camping trip, and it’s impossible to get everything in the car! We’re waiting on a VW Transporter to arrive and had assumed it would be here by our trip (We ordered it in January, so I kind of thought 8 months was a good assumption!). Luckily we went with friends and had to put our beds in their van!
