Advert| Interior Design Trends for 2019

August 26, 2019

Interior design is something that’s becoming more popular recently. With TV shows such as BBC Two’s Interior Design Masters which pits 10 up-and-coming designers against each other as they try to win a prestigious, life changing prize, it’s no wonder that more and more people are giving home renovations a go themselves.

There’s so much information available online for budding interior designers, along with plenty of courses available online too. I often think that I’d quite like to be an interior designer. I’m pretty creative and have a good eye for detail, as well as a good imagination. I also like to think that I have a good eye for design.

When we redesigned our girls bedroom, I had an idea in mind and seeing the transformation from beginning to end that I’d created myself was very enjoyable!

To me, a good interior designer is someone who can enhance the interior of a building in more than one way. For example, we all want our homes to look good, but they should also be functional and adaptable. After all, we’ll want it to have longevity and for me it also has to be sustainable.

When thinking about interior design I like to look at the world around me. I take inspiration from iconic buildings such as The Shard in London and the Louvre Pyramid in France. Both are beautifully designed and really iconic buildings.

I love researching the history of these buildings and I was surprised to recently discover that a UK glassmaker actually provided the glass for the shard.

That glassmaker is called Tuffx. You’ll pleased to hear that they don’t just provide the glass for iconic buildings. You can also use their glass in your own home. I really like these glass balustrades for stairs.

Not only do they look good, it’s also functional and doesn’t block out any light. What do you think? Do you have something similar in your home? Let me know in the comments below.
