Brilliant Mum Feature Week 112
Hello and welcome to the Brilliant Mum Feature. Once a week I will be featuring one mum in a bid to find out more about them and their lives.
If you’d like to take part in this series, simply fill in this form.

This week our brilliant mum feature is Kirsty who blogs at Kirsty Ralph.
Kirsty is originally from Luton however she has lived in Nottingham for 10 years now following a degree in history. Kirsty has been married for 6 years this year to her husband, Simon and they have one child, Mia who has recently turned 2! Kirsty works full time in the NHS and in her spare time (if you call it that) she’s a keen runner and has completed a half marathon and ten pin bowl which sees her represent her home county in tournaments.
Thanks for taking part Kirsty!
Have you always wanted to be a mum?
Yes. From a young age I knew I would be a mum but it did take a little while longer than I thought that I would be ready.
How did you feel when your children were born?
I was completely overwhelmed. The pregnancy was very difficult due to a lot of serious health issues and my daughter was born 6 weeks early following a c section. She was taken to NICU and had to have help with her breathing and feeding tube was placed. I did get to see her until 10 hours after she was born. The journey following that was hard as we both spent 2 weeks in hospital after that.
What have been your most rewarding experiences so far as a mum?
For me unconditional love!
What are some of your funniest moments to have happened to you as a mum?
I think the loveliest moment was hearing Mia “make sounds” for the first time or holding her in my arms. The funniest moment has to be where she decided to pee all over my husband whilst changing her nappy.
Have there been any situations with your children that you have found difficult to cope with?
Having suffered with depression being left alone all day when my husband went back to work and I was still recovering and dealing with a new born, c section pain and type 1 diabetes I felt incredibly overwhelmed and emotional.
What are your dreams and hopes for your children?
To be as happy as she can possibly be and achieve anything she wants to do.
If you’ve been featured as a brilliant mum and would like to share this badge on your blog, please do!
