Champagne Tastes, Lemonade Pockets!

February 15, 2016

‘Champagne Tastes, Lemonade Pockets!’ I love that saying! It reminds me of when I was a teenager because that’s exactly how I felt! I wanted all of these things, but I couldn’t afford them all!

I was a student in college and although I had a part time job I only earned £52.50 a week which didn’t get me very far. Nowadays there are lots of finance options available for students, but when I was growing up we weren’t eligible for anything like that.

If I wanted to buy something I had to save my money, which would take me a very long time, because out of that £52.50 I had to take out money for travel, food and stationary amongst other things which left me with very little to actually save.

As a student, I didn’t have a very good credit score which left me feeling as though I had no options. I wanted to learn to drive, save for a holiday and also for my future. I started to look online at what I could do when I came across a loan website. It hadn’t occurred to me that I may be able to get a loan. I thought my poor credit meant that no-one would loan me money, but I was wrong.

There are actually quite a few companies around who will help those with poor credit. Take Glo loans for example. They offer guarantor loans for people who suffer from poor credit.

If you’re not familiar with the concept of a guarantor loan, it’s pretty simple. If you know someone that trusts you, they can act as your guarantor. They’ll be the person who’s asked to take responsibility for the loan if you’re unable to repay it, so it needs to be someone with a good credit history, who trusts you. It could be your mum, dad, auntie, uncle, family friend or anyone else for that matter.

Whether it’s for a holiday, new car or anything else, it may be something worth considering.
