Choosing the right sofa for your home
Tomorrow we are moving house.
Our new home is more spacious than our current one. It’s a three bed dorma bungalow. It’ll be a little strange and probably take a bit of getting used to being in a new house, but we’re taking a few steps to make it our own.
First up is a new sofa. We’ve had our current one for around 10 years. It’s a large fabric three seater in black. The covers can be removed to allow for washing, but after 10 years of wear and tear it’s definitely time we invested in new one.
We’d been reluctant to do so until now because our twins tend to get food on it or crayon or goodness knows what else!
With that in mind, my husband and I have been thinking about what we want in a new sofa. From u shaped sofas to corner sofas, there’s a lot to choose from. We’ve been looking at chesterfield sofas for inspiration and decided that we’d like to by a fabric sofa again.
Although many people with children suggest that we should go for leather sofas due to the easiness of cleaning it with the wipe of a cloth, I have to be honest and admit that I’m not a fan of leather.
I don’t find them comfortable to sit on. They tend to be cold in winter and warm in summer, plus I really don’t like how they look when they fade. That being said a leather sofa that’s been taken good care of can last many years.
Next we needed to decide on a colour. White, creams and beige colours are a big no no for us!
I like soft, pastel colours so we’re thinking of a grey colour. A light grey and then we can add some colour with some purple scatter cushions.
Grey is a classic, elegant colour that will always look modern. In addition to that there’s not much that grey doesn’t go with!
One thing my husband and I both agree on is that we want a sofa on legs. Our current one doesn’t have legs so once a month we have to check under the sofa to see what toys have been lost underneath! A sofa with legs will mean that we can easily clean up toys and make sure they’re not lost.
Now all we need is to wait for delivery!
