  • Purchase a household cleaner. Almost anyone will do, but water will not be enough to remove the surface dust and dirt
  • If you’re looking for a more environmentally friendly alternative to a household cleaner you can mix 1 part water with 1 part ammonia in a spray bottle. This will work just as well
  • The best way to clean your patio doors is to actually remove the screen using a screwdriver to loosen the screws. Be careful though because the screens can be flimsy.
  • Once you have removed the screen, lay it down on top of a dust sheets or a few old towels and use a hoover to remove any loose surface dust and dirt
  • You will then need to spray your cleaner onto the screen and using a lint free cloth, wipe away the moisture
  • You might want to leave the cleaner settle for a few minutes to help lift the dirt if your patio screen is particulary dirty
  • Once you have wiped your screen, be sure to dry it thoroughly and then allow it time to air dry
  • Cleaning your patio doors doesn’t just mean cleaning the screens. You’ll need to use a small scrub brush to loosen dirt from the track and I would suggest using steel wool to scrub any stubborn dirt away. Dirt on the tracks can interfere with opening and closing and can cause wear and tear on the rollers
  • Using a cloth and your cleaner remove any remaining dirt and again allow some time for it to dry thoroughly and then apply some lubricant
  • I’d also advise to soak the roller and tension spring in your cleaner for up 20 minutes and dry them for around 30 minutes. If you can’t remove the roller, use a small brush to clean it.
  • Don’t forget your door handles! Use a damp cloth and soapy water and make sure you pay particular attention to the inside of the handles as this can often be forgotten.
  • All patio doors need to be cleaned to keep them looking their best and especially bi folding patio doors, which serve as a feature of the property
