Daily stresses every parent of toddlers face

June 29, 2015
Every parent says that being a parent is the hardest, yet most rewarding job you can ever do. I totally agree with this!

Every day parents across the world experience daily battles and stressful situations with their children, regardless of how old they are.
My twins are three years old and here are a few of the daily stresses and battles we go through:
Having breakfast
From the moment they wake up (which is far too early for my liking!), they’re ready to play. Getting them to the breakfast table can take anything from a few minutes on a good day to a whole hour on other days. During that time, they’re not misbehaving. They’re just too busy playing to want to stop and eat!
Having a bath
They love a bath. You can’t have too many bubbles, but then again you can’t have too little bubbles either! Much like breakfast time, asking them if they want to have a bath always results in a resounding ‘yes’, but getting them into the bath when it’s ready can also take a while due to all the playing that they’re doing!

Getting dressed
This is quite an amusing one for me. After a bath, I wrap them up in their towels and take them into our living room. They’ll either hide with their towels over their heads or they’ll lie on the carpet completely covered in their towels thinking it’s hysterical that ‘mummy can’t find them!’ They giggle and roar with laughter!
Sometimes they’ll fling their towels off and run around me in circles or run back and forth around the room singing and laughing!
Some days they’ll hide somewhere such as behind the curtains or under a pillow!
It’s great for about five minutes and I’ll sit with them and laugh, but at some point they need to get dressed!
Going out
They love to go out. The park, play group, play dates, the farm, the shops, a walk. They’ll even suggest we go somewhere one day, but actually getting them out of the house can take a long time!
I’ll get their coats and shoes ready and they’ll stay on the sofa watching TV. I’ll call them and they’ll stay on the sofa.
When they finally come to, I realise they’ve taken their socks off so I then have to go and find them socks to wear. When I return to them, they’re playing happily on the floor together and don’t want to be disturbed despite asking to go to the park five minutes earlier!
When I finally manage to get them dressed, I ask them both to try and go to the toilet. Some days, they’ll happily oblige, other days it’ll take bribery to get them to do it!
Of course then we have to make sure that they have all their toys and blankets with them because naturally they can’t leave the house without them!
When we do go out though they’re really good. Always well behaved so I can’t complain too much!
Toys
They have the same toys, but sometimes one wants to play with the one that the other has and vice versa. They’re really good at sharing, but sometimes they do snatch a toy off each other or have a tug of war over a teddy bear!
Playing referee is a regular occurrence!
Do you have face the same battles with your children?!
