Disney Sofia the First Toy Review from Jakks Pacific

September 10, 2016

Like most little girls, M, loves princesses. R will happily play with them too, but definitely prefers playing with boy dolls such as Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid or Kristof from Frozen.

We recently received some Sofia the First toys to review from Jakks Pacific and both R and M love them! I’ve included a short video below so you can see the toys in action, but here’s some more information first!

We were sent:

Sofia the First Royal Friend 3″ Figure (RRP £5.99)
Sofia the First Mini Royal Prep Art Class Playset (RRP £9.99)
Mini Princess Amber’s Closet Playset (RRP £9.99)
Sofia the First Royal Tiara (RRP £6.99)
Sofia the First Royal Camera (RRP £9.99)
Ruby with Royal Friend Figure (RRP £5.99)
Jade with Royal Friend Figure (RRP £5.99)
Sofia the First Backpack (RRP £12.99)

All of the toys above are available from Smyths Toys.

The first thing we opened were the figures. At three inches tall they’re super cute and really easy for little hands to hold and move. I’m sure children will love collecting them all! Their heads can be moved up and down, as well as back forth, plus you can also make them sit down and stand up!

Each doll is beautifully fashioned in detailed attire from the TV programme and includes one animal friend to play with. Sofia comes with a cute little bunny called Clover. Ruby comes with a bird called Mia, and Jade comes with a dragon called Crackle!

The next thing we opened was the Mini Royal Prep Art Class Playset. This set also comes with a Sofia the First figure who’s donning a fashionable purple beret on her head!

This playset features a magical spinning wall with a magical reveal. Children can dip the paintbrush that comes with this set into water and start ‘painting’ the wall. There are two sides to this and both can be ‘painted’.
When the picture comes into contact with the water from the paintbrush, the one side of the picture reveals different colours, and the other side reveals a picture of a pony! Our girls really enjoyed ‘painting’ this and really thought it was magical!

We then opened Amber’s Closet Playset. Much like the Art Class Playset, this one also has a spinning wall. One side is Amber’s closet with pictures of her clothes in, and the other side is a mirror.

Amber also comes with this set and has a removable ‘feather’ crown and skirt. The feather crown is really easy to put on and take off.

I was pleased to see that it stays on really well too and doesn’t fall off. The skirt is a little trickier and did require my help to put on, but the girls can take it off easily.

As mentioned above we were also sent a camera toy. Both of the girls love this as they’re always pretending to take pictures like mummy and daddy. The camera is really easy for them to use.

The front of the camera has a ‘cover’ which is pretty tough to take off, but after some practise the girls have mastered it by pulling the string attached to the cover to get it to come off.

By looking into the camera children can see some different images of Sofia. By clicking the button, the image changes and also makes a clicking sound.

M absolutely loves the tiara and for £6.99, I think it’s a great price. It’s really well made and has an image of Sofia on it!

Last, but not least we also received a Sofia backpack. I really like this as it’s really colourful, durable and a nice size. There’s a pocket on the front and the straps are padded for comfort.

Overall, these are great toys for Sofia the First fans. They’re really good quality and our girls really enjoyed playing with them! I’d definitely recommend them!

For the purpose of this review we were sent the above items. All views and opinions are 100% my own.

I haven't heard of Sofia before. My niece loves Frozen so I'm sure she will become just as obsessed with Sofia. Looks like fun!
