I really enjoy food, but when you’re trying to lose weight, having a love of food doesn’t make things easy.
When I was given the chance to review Everdine I was pretty excited about. Everdine offer clean and wholesome gourmet meals that are cooked and frozen before being courier delivered to your front door.
I’ve heard of similar boxes before, but for me the real selling point with Everdine is that I don’t actually need to cook lots of ingredients myself. All I need to do is pop the meals in the microwave straight from frozen and most are ready to eat in around 10 minutes.
I like how quick and easy it is, but also how healthy and nutritious the meals on offer are too.
I found the website easy to navigate and opted for the 8 classic meals which works out at £6.90 per meal. Each box is £55.20 with free shipping.
After choosing my box, I then chose the frequency of my deliveries. You can choose from either every week, every two weeks, every three weeks or every four weeks. You can also chose the day and time that suits you best – either a Friday or Saturday.
The next step is to choose your meals. 8 meals are automatically chosen for you, but you can swap and remove these if you want to. Each meal (450g) serves one person.
My meals arrived on time and very well packaged in a box that was padded out and stuffed full of ice to keep the meals frozen.
I chose the following meals:
2 x Barbecue Pulled Pork with Boston Beans
2 x Lamb Chops with Feta, Cous Cous and Beetroot
2 x Smokey Chicken Fajitas
1 x Coconut Katsu Chicken
1 x Lemon and Black Pepper Chicken
I doubled up on some meals so that my husband could have the same as me too.
The first meal I tried was the coconut cats chicken which took just 10 minutes in the microwave. Before cooking I removed a pot of coconut and chia seeds which I sprinkled over my meal once is had been cooked.
As you can see it’s a really good sized portion and just 587kcal. This meal is cooked marinated chicken breast with brown and wild rice. A blend of coconut curry sauce and vegetables.
I really enjoyed the mix of flavours in this meal. The park choi with the tender stem broccoli and the coconut curry sauce worked really well together. It was flavoursome, filling and very tasty.
The next meal I tried was the lemon and black pepper chicken. This was my favourite meal! It was very full of flavour and had a bit of a spicy kick to it which I really liked. Portion wise, it was just right. I found this meal to be very filling. The spaghetti was also delicious!
Next up was the lamb chops with feta, cous cous and beetroot. I don’t tend to buy lamb chops as I find that they don’t have much meat on, but the two lamb chops in this meal had plenty of meat on.
The beetroot, feta and cous cous was absolutely delicious, especially when all mixed together, and the butternut squash was divine! I wasn’t too fussed on the courgettes thought as I found them a bit hard.
Next up was the Barbecue Pulled Pork with Boston Beans. I have to be honest and admit that I really didn’t like this meal. I felt the pulled pork was really stringy and had an odd texture to it, but I can be a bit picky with my food.
Having said that, my husband did enjoy this meal and ate it all, so it just goes to show that one meal I may not like, someone else probably will!
Overall, I really enjoyed the meals we received from Everdine. If I was to order again, I think I’d probably stick to the chicken meals, but I would love to try the seafood dishes such as salmon and cod.
Here’s a short video I put together…
