Everything you need to host a movie night

September 28, 2015

My husband and I love taking our twin girls to the cinema. I remember the first time we did. We chose a short film that was only an hour long as we didn’t want to overdo it on the first time. Thankfully they both enjoyed it and ever since we’ve been taking our girls on a regular basis.

Sometimes though it’s nice to just stay at home and have a lazy, cosy, movie night in our very own front room. Our girls love Disney films, much like their mummy, but the trouble is they’ve seen quite a lot of them and I wanted to make our movie night more interesting by showing them a movie that they hadn’t seen before.

IMDB have a list of some of the most popular family feature films so I took a look to see which ones they haven’t seen and went for Monsters, Inc.

If you haven’t seen it, I can highly recommend it! I don’t want to give too much away, but in order to power the city, monsters have to scare children so that they scream. Sounds a bit scary, but it really isn’t! The thing is though the children are toxic to the monsters so when one child gets through to where the monsters are. two of the monsters realise that things may not be what they think.

As well as a new movie some of the others things you may want to consider when hosting a movie night are:

  • Snacks! Popcorn, crisps and dips or maybe something a bit healthier? Celery sticks, carrot batons and breadsticks make great snacks for kids!
  • A new TV can be a great to enhance your movie experience. 4k TVs have high-performance image-processing engines.
  •  A cosy blanket big enough for all of the family to snuggle up under!
  • Having some drinks to hand will save you from running back and forth to the kitchen
