My First Scalextric Set Review
When I was a kid I remember playing with a scalextric set in a toy shop once. Sadly, I never owned my own scalextric set, but I always thought they looked like so much fun.
There are lots of different types of scalextric sets on the market, but My First Scalextric is ideal for children as a starter set.

Available online for £39.99, this set is aimed at children aged three and over. Inside the box you’ll find:
- 2 super resistant cars
- Track (256cm)
- 2 speed limiter hand controllers
- Power supply
- Accessories
The track is easy to assemble and within minutes of taking the parts out of the box, we were up and ready to play!

The figure of 8 track is well made, although at times you can see slight gaps between the pieces of track, however this doesn’t affect play.
The two rally cars and adjustable power hand-controllers are colour coded in red and yellow to match the chevrons on the circuit. This makes it easy for children to know which car to place on which side of the track.
The magnatraction technology helps to keep the cars on the track, although at times the cars did stop. This is because the two ‘metallic strips’ on the bottom of the cars had lifted slightly. It’s easy to put them back though, you simply need to squeeze them together and you’re ready to go again.
The variable hand-controllers allow the speed of racing to be adjusted depending on skill level. Go too fast though and the cars will come off the track! It’s all about figuring out which speed will keep the cars on the track!

The hand-controllers are very easy to use. They simply plug into the side of the track, along with the power adapter and you’re ready to play!
Here’s a short video of the set in action!
Overall, we think this is a great scalextric set for children. Our girls really enjoy playing with it. I think it’s well made and great fun!
