No Get Well Cards For Brits with Mental Health Problems

January 30, 2017

I’m super excited to be working with Moonpig on their most recent campaign which sees them team up with mental health charity, Mind.

Research commissioned by Moonpig.com, the UK’s favorite greeting card and gift retailer, has uncovered how Brits living with mental problems are facing their illness alone, with the younger generation being the most likely to do this. Of course you could talk to a psychologist at ThriveTalk.com for support, or look online for a therapist. Websites such as BetterHelp can you find a therapist in your local or surrounding area.

This research has been released as Moonpig launches a new bespoke bouquet and Thinking of You card range, in aid of mental health charity, Mind. The bouquet will feature beautiful pink aqua roses, light pink oriental lilies, dried lavender eucalyptus. The bouquets cost £30 and 10% from each bouquet purchased will be donated to Mind.

The idea is that the new ‘Thinking of You’ bouquet will help to #PlantaSmile on the face of the nation and to spread the message that we all have a role to play in supporting those living with mental health conditions – showing them that we are thinking of them.

Did you know that the third Monday in January is often dubbed as ‘Blue Monday’, the so-called most depressing day of the year, but Mind and Moonpig want to busy this myth and remind people that depression happens any day of the year and that friends and family can play an important role by staying connected all year round. They’re urging the public to reach out to loved ones who might be struggling with their mental health in the same they would if someone had a physical health problem, by sending cards, flowers and offering gestures of kindness.

Moonpig Cards

The research study commissioned by Moonpig found that half of those surveyed would send a get well card to someone suffering from a physical health problem, compared to just a fifth of people who would send one to someone living with a mental health problem.

However, over two thirds of those who live with mental health problems said receiving a gift or a kind act would make them feel like someone cared about them, and a further 65% stated that this would make them feel as though they weren’t alone.

I really like the idea of sending of a Thinking of You card as oppose to a Get Well card for those who live with mental health problems. I was sent a few of the Thinking of You cards from Moonpig and I love how colourful they are.

What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
