For my Valentine

February 14, 2018

I’m not usually one to write soppy blog posts, but seeing as it’s Valentines day, I thought I’d put pen to paper, (or should that be fingers to keypad?), and see what I could come up with!

I met my husband, Nigel, when I was 18, and we’ve been together ever since. 13 happy years.

I wasn’t looking to meet anyone that day, but when our eyes met through the shop window I was working in as you drove past, I knew there was something there.

It hasn’t been an easy journey. Many people said it wouldn’t last. After all a 27 year age gap is something that a lot of people like to cast judgement upon.

Anyway, here we are, 13 years later. We’ve been married for six years and have the most, beautiful six year old twins together.

Nigel also has three children from his previous marriage. I must admit that becoming a step-mum at the age of 20 wasn’t something I’d planned for, nor something I ever even thought about, but it’s turned out to be one of the best things that’s happened to me.

Although it took us a while to get used to one another, we’re now at a point in our lives, where we all get on well with one another, and are happy in each others company.

I truly believe that we were all meant to be together. Nigel, his three children, and our twin girls. Of course, Nigel’s mum too, who I also adore!

You see I really think that I’m very lucky.

Not many people find their soul mate.

The one person they’re destined to be with, but I have, and I’m very thankful, grateful and happy that I have.

I couldn’t imagine my life without Nigel. My life would be very different without you in it, and I think, like most couples, we often take one another for granted, but at the end of the day, when the kids are in bed and it’s just me and you on the sofa, I know it’s where we’re meant to be.

Alongside one another.

I love you.

Happy Valentines Day x
