- Start thinking about what gifts you will be buying around 3 months in advance. Write a list of all the people you need to buy for and alongside each name write down a few of their likes and dislikes. This can help you get thinking about what gift they might like. It’s also good idea to set aside a budget for this and try to stick to it. Remember it’s quality not quantity
- Invest in a good vacuum. There’s nothing worse than an untidy home on Christmas day. You can find a great selection of vacuum cleaners at TJ Hughes. They have a great range in addition to top brands including Vax Hoovers. Make sure you remember all those hidden and awkward to get to places
- Around the beginning of November buy your Christmas cards and start writing them. By doing this in advance you can ensure that everyone will receive one before Christmas. Even better why not try making your own Christmas cards for that extra special personal touch
- If you’ve got a box of decorations and lights stuffed in the attic somewhere, dig them out mid-November and make sure they’re not broken and ensure that any lights are working. When you know what you’ve got, you’ll know if you need to buy anything else
- Start decorating your home around mid-November and do it bit by bit! Start with your smaller ornamental decorations such as snow globes, candles etc. Next put up your lights and finally your Christmas tree. It’s a good idea to put your outdoor decorations ups around the end of November and make sure you do it on a dry day
- Approximately a week before Christmas buy what food is needed. Cocktail sausages, bacon, pate, bread, cranberry sauce etc. It’s also a good idea to plan your week and when you’ll be preparing or making each dish
- Don’t forget to buy your children an advent calendar on or before December 1st
- Before the big day make sure all your presents are wrapped, all your food is prepared and your decorations are all up
- Enjoy and have a great day!
