Introducing Oak Furniture Land's Nursery Range
Knowing what furniture to buy when you’re expecting a baby can be quite over whelming. From deciding what style of cot to get to whether or not you should invest in one that can later be used as a cot bed. You’ll also need to think about what type of mattress will go into your little ones cot and also decide if a changing table is something worth investing in.
As a mum of twins I knew that I wanted to buy cot beds for the simple reason that they’d last a long time, save me from having to invest in a bed after buying a cot, but also because I didn’t want to change our girls mattresses from one that they’d slept in since birth to a new one because I know that a new mattress can take some getting used to and I didn’t want to disturb the girls good sleeping habits.
Finding the right place to buy your baby’s furniture is important too and that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to share you with some information about Oak Furniture Land‘s new nursery range. It’s super clever because a lot of it folds and adjusts as the baby grows. So, rather than lasting only a year or so, you shouldn’t need to rebuy furniture until you’re child is around 4 or 5 years old.
As mentioned above my husband and I invested in a cot bed each for our twin girls. Of course when they were babies they had a moses basket each, but they quickly outgrew them! In hindsight if I could do it all again, I’d probably give the moses baskets a miss and go straight for a cot bed. Although moses baskets look cute and they’re great for portability in terms of moving your baby from one room to another, I just found that I didn’t move them around much so they could have just gone straight into a cot bed.
They’re four years old at the end of this month and they still sleep in the same cot beds. We’ve removed the sides so they’re now beds instead of cots, but they were definitely a great investment and I can see them lasting at least another year.
For that reason I have to say that I think the 3-in-1 cot beds offered by Oak Furniture land would be a great choice. Made from solid hardwood, they’re versatile and built to last. They grow with your baby and can be converted into an open-sided day bed by removing a side rail. When your child is ready you can then finally convert it into a toddler bed.
When it comes to the look of a cot bed, I like to keep it simple which is why the attractive natural grain pattern of the oak or the subtle choice of paint colour offered by Oak Furniture Land would be a perfect choice for me.
Two of my favourite cot beds from Oak Furniture Land are…
Country Cottage Natural Oak and Painted Cot Bed
I love the colour of this one, plus the teething rails help to protect your child’s mouth if they decide to have a late night chew! Something my girls used to do on a regular basis! Not only do they protect your child’s teeth, they also protect the cot bed from unsightly teeth marks too!
Each range has their own distinctive design and matching under bed drawers which is a great way to maximise your storage space.
I especially like that you can also get matching pieces of furniture. This wardrobe, changing table and beautiful chest of drawers would all look great teamed up together in a neutral themed bedroom.
Original Rustic Solid Oak Cot Bed
I love the look of this rustic cot bed. It’s made from 100% solid rustic oak throughout. When transformed into a toddler bed it has a warm, welcoming feel to it.
The matching furniture in this range is bold, chunky and will never go out of fashion. I think they’d look great in a jungle themed bedroom! I just imagine a lion or tiger poking it’s head up from behind the changing table!
All of the Oak Furniture Land ranges have soft close drawers and doors to keep small fingers safe. Why not pop over to their website and browse the ranges. What’s your favourite piece?

When my children were babies I fantasised about having a beautiful nursery in which everything matched (I couldn't afford it – their rooms were always higgledy-piggledy affairs!). Now they are older, I just dream about having the room back so I can turn it into a guest room / yoga room / study etc!! #bestandworst

The furniture looks great. Is it expensive? I don't see the point in spending huge amounts of money on baby furniture x
