Keeping your home and loved ones safe with the Supra C500 KeySafe™

Disclaimer: For the purpose of this review I was sent one Supra C500 KeySafe™ to review

Key safes are a great way to keep your home and loved ones safe. Gone are the days of leaving a key under a bin or door mat to let others into your home.

What is a key safe?

A key safe is a metal box that is fixed to the outside wall of your home. The purpose of a key safe is to securely store a key inside. It offers a convenient and safe way to share access with friends, families and trusted service providers like cleaners, dog walkers, carers and emergency services.

You can access the key by entering a combination code into the keypad. This code can be set yourself and can be changed as often as you like in order to maintain security.

Why use a key safe?

There are many different reasons why people use a key safe. For example, my mother-in-law is 93 years old. She’s hard of hearing and hasn’t got the best mobility. When we visit, she often doesn’t hear the doorbell. As such, a key safe lets us access her home securely.

It’s also great for letting the emergency services in or visitors such as the chiropodist if we’re not available to do so ourselves.

We were sent the Supra C500 KeySafe™ to review. It’s a really great addition to our home for so many reasons. Firstly, my children have recently started walking home from school independently. Having a key safe means I don’t have to worry about them losing their house key in school. It also means, as they get older, if I’m not home, they can let themselves in easily.

What’s more, my husband and I like to exercise. This means when I go for a run I don’t have to worry about bringing a key with me and the same goes for my husband when he goes cycling.

Finally, a key safe is a great back up plan should something unexpected happen. Perhaps, you lose your keys while you’re out. This has happened to us before! I ended up having to smash a pane of glass on the front door to regain entry into our home!

Which key safe?

There are so many key safes available to buy but not all are equally safe, as the name would suggest. From scroll boxes, lock boxes to key boxes and pushbutton key safes, the options are plenty. Not all of these are secure and some could even invalidate your home insurance.

To gain assurance that your chosen device is truly safe, make sure it’s been certified by either ‘Secured by Design’ or the Loss Prevention Certification Board. Both of these are independent accreditation boards.

Key safes that are certified by ‘Secured by Design’ scheme to deter crime will bear its ‘Police Preferred’ seal of approval

Supra C500 KeySafe™

I was sent a Supra C500 KeySafe™ to review from The Key Safe Company. The Key Safe Company have been supplying key safes for over 25 years. The Supra C500 KeySafe™ has a police preferred specification as well as LPCB LPS 1175 Issue 8 & A5 certification. This is the highest level of physical security attained by a mechanical key safe which has not been rivalled by any other mechanical product in the UK.

It took my husband less than 30 minutes to install it on our wall. All of the required attachments are included. The Supra C500 KeySafe™ is really easy to use. Setting up the code was simple by following the instructions inside.

What’s more, the Supra C500 KeySafe™ is rust and water resistant and has a weather protection cover.

The Supra C500 KeySafe™ is really easy to use. The large twist and pull handle has a unique clutch mechanism that prevents forcing the safe open if an incorrect code is entered. The keypad is easy to use and overall I’m very happy with it. You can chose a code between 5-7 characters and can change the code as many times as you like using the code changing tool.
