MMR Injection and Reaction
On Tuesday, March 26th our girls had their MMR injections. The nurse told us that in around 7-10 days the girls may develop a rash but she explained that it shouldn’t make them unwell.
The girls have been great with all of their injections and they have never had any reaction to any of them but when a week later, M developed a spotty rash I put it down to the MMR. The following day R had a temperature and was quite irritable. Over the following few days M’s spotty rash grew and she had one spot right under her eye and one on the back of her leg had turned into a blister. R’s temperature stayed and both girls appetites dwindled. They were both restless, upset, irritable and tired but even though they were tired they just couldn’t sleep soundly.
I was worried and started to think maybe it was something more than just a reaction to the MMR. Was it chicken pox or even more worrying something more dangerous such as meningitis?
The reason I thought this was because of those the words the nurse had spoken:
“…it shouldn’t make them unwell”
I decided to take a look on the NHS website and found that the MMR can make babies feel unwell. I thought I would share the information I found with you, please click here.
