My Favourite Retro Games
It’s funny how things change over the years. How quickly technology takes over. The advances that have been made in our gaming experiences is pretty phenomenal. When I was a child I used to love playing on my Gameboy. I thought it was great! The black and white screen, the game cartridges! I used to take my Gameboy every where with me!
I remember my sister and I taking it in turns to play Roller Coaster Tycoon on our massive desktop computer. I can’t imagine many people playing it nowadays! It was such a simple game, yet it was very addictive! I’m pretty sure it was on a floppy disk that we just popped into the computers tower. I bet if you asked teenagers now what a floppy disk was, chances are they probably wouldn’t know! Although Roller Coaster Tycoon is a thing of the past, there are still pretty cool games available to children online. The Color Switch Game is lots of fun and pretty popular too!
Space Invaders was another favourite! I remember every time we’d go to the bowling complex with my parents, I’d beg them to let us go into the arcades to play on the games. My sister and I would get very competitive over space invaders with both of us trying to out do the others score!

When I think of retro games I also think of bingo games. Of course they’re online now, whereas as years ago if you wanted to play, you’d either have to go down to your local hall or go on holiday where the evenings entertainment usually consisted of a game or two!
However, I think two of my favourite retro games of all time though have to be Snake and Tetris. I can’t remember how old I was when I got my very first mobile phone, but I do remember playing snake for the first time and getting very addicted to it! Trying to make the longest snake that I could whilst avoiding crashing into the walls and collecting the food! My mum also loved Tetris and would play it on her phone. I think that’s why I love it so much too! From watching her play it when I was I a kid!
My husbands favourite retro games are Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario Kart. I can’t say that I’ve played much of either of these games, but I have watched my husband play them in the past and they do look like lots of fun. Maybe I don’t play them very often because I’m not very good at them! There’s something about shooting games that we all love as well!
Anyway, moving away from computer and online games, I can’t talk about retro games without mentioning Ker Plunk and Mouse Trap! They’re classic games that have truly stood the test of time. It’s amazing how simple these games are, but also how well loved and enjoyed they still are by people of all ages. Even my twin girls love Ker Plunk, although I’m yet to introduce them to Mouse Trap!
What are your favourite retro games?

You can't beat retro games. The other year they had this games place in Newport where they would have all retro consoles like NES and SNES along with a load of games to play there. You basically go in and pay for however long you want and play as much as you like. Me and my friend would always spend hours in here after college x
