New Years Resolutions

January 3, 2018

It’s the start of another year, and for many this means it’s time to set some new years resolutions.

2018 will actually be the first year that I can remember in which I won’t be setting any new years resolutions.

You may wonder why that is so I’ll tell you.

Quite simply, I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m happy.

2017 saw me achieving many goals that I never thought I’d be able to achieve. I’ve lost two stone, I’ve run a half marathon, I’m self-employed which means I can set my own working hours. Yes, all in all, 2017 was a pretty good year.

As such I have no resolutions to set.

Instead I’m just going to keep going as I have been.

I’ll keep on running, and raising money for charity through my runs.

I’ll maintain my weight loss and continue to work hard.

I already have a few things lined up this year in terms of running.

This month I’m taking part in R.E.D January. (Run Every Day in January). This is for the mental health charity, MIND. I’ve never run every day before, but it’s a challenge I’m very much looking forward to. If you’d like to sponsor me for R.E.D January, you can find my Just Giving page online here.

I’ve also signed up for a 1,000km challenge. This will see me running as much as I can in 2018 to achieve the goal of running of 1,000km in 2018.

I’ve also signed up for the St Davids Run in March which is 10k and for my second half marathon, the Cardiff Half Marathon. If you’d like to sponsor me for this, you can find my Just Giving Page online here.

We also have a family holiday booked to Disneyland Paris which we’re all very excited about. So yes, 2018 is going to be pretty good!

Will you be setting any new years resolutions this year? I’d love to hear from you.

Always kind of fancied doing the Cardiff half marathon, and really want to do it at some point without training just to make it harder, just never got round to it.

I’ve not bothered with resolutions for years now. Basically I live life one day at a time. I set goals and of course there are things we want to achieve but I can set those at any time of the year (and do) not just on January 1st. But I know people who live by them too – personal preference I guess.
My current goals (not all set at new year) are to grow my blog and instagram following, have an even more successful Kirkbymoorside 10K than we did last (which broke fund raising records itself so it will be a challenge), we have a BIG family holiday to look forward to for a nieces wedding (goal: pay that off!), oh and shed loads of other things going on (such as running my second marathon and writing a book).

This is so great to hear! It seems that basing your goals on changes that are all ready set into motion is a great way to build momentum and keep the positive stuff coming. I also need to get back into running after having my daughter in November, and it’s great to have some inspiration. Looking forward to seeing you grow this year with all of us from #BestBootForward! Thank you so much for linking up!

Ahh Emily I love this!! It must be such a lovely feeling to be in a place in your life where you are truly happy with no need for change. In many ways I feel the same but in others, mainly my own personal health, I need to make so many changes. Happy New Year to you! #thatfridaylinky

Brilliant, it’s great that you’re at a point in your life where you feel like that! I don’t usually set resolutions as such either, but this year I’m going to try to read more and be more environmentally friendly. #ThatFridayLinky

Thanks so much for linking up with Best Boot Forward and I guess your boots are running ones. Really like the sound of the running challenge for MIND and am going to check that out now. Hope to see you again next week.

I envy you your running challenges, my joints just won’t do it anymore, I’m limiting myself to two or three runs a week. Keep it going while you can. #ThatFridayLinky

What an amazing year 2017 was for you, and I’m sure 2018 will be just as successful! I myself have also not set any NY resolutions. I find them annoying really 🙂 High expectations that we rarely achieve. Instead, I prefer to just set goals. With little steps that are easy to achieve. I guess its the same thing, but the weight behind goals doesn’t seem as intimidating as the words NY resolutions 🙂 #thatfridaylinky

Sounds great. I think a lot of people punish themselves with impossible resolutions. It’s refreshing to hear you’re going into the 2018 happy!

I plan to follow 3 P’s I’ve made up – be more Positive, Plan more and be more Purposeful in what I do. My wife just wants me to stop picking my spots, haha!

WOW! 2017 was huge for you, 2018 will follow suit I’m sure 🙂

I don’t have resolutions as such, just a number of things I’d like to try, achieve or get done across the year. Shameless plug, but the list of exactly what will be in tonights YouTube video 🙂

Oh my goodness you have so much planned in already! What an exciting year to look forward to.
As for resolutions, I’m not setting any. It always feels like so much pressure and you feel bad when it doesn’t go to plan. I just plan to look after me a bit more this year. #ThatFridayLinky
