On the sixth day of Christmas – Surviving the in-laws!

December 18, 2015
I think I’m fairly lucky that I get on really well with my mother-in-law. Sadly my own mum passed away 10 years ago which makes it even more important to me that our girls have an older female figure in their lives.

Of course they have their older sisters, but a nana is a wonderful person and I have fond memories of my mums mum.

As I’m taking part in the 12 days of Christmas project, the title of today’s post is top tips for surviving the in laws, however I don’t really have any tips as mentioned above we get on well!

What I will say though is that life is short. Too short to worry and stress. I think as long as you’re yourself and you’re friendly then that’s all you can do.
Enjoy the day as much as you can without worrying!

Great post – very true that life is short so make the most of it. I'm lucky too that I get on with my mother in law #binkylinky xx

Totally true – your in laws are never going to be the same as your family but life is short and definitely worth just getting on and having fun! Love that pic of the girls and their Nana. Thanks for hosting hun and will see you after Christmas. Have a fab one x

The in-laws… what a topic. I have had a rocky road to say the least with mine. Possibly just because me and my husband were only 14 when we got together and I think they just thought we were too young to be so serious. But anyhow, currently we are going through a half decent stretch so luckily christmas won't be a worry this year. But like you said, be friendly and polite – thats all you can do #binkylinky

I'm really lucky too and get on well with mine – probably better than my OH gets on with them, and they're *his* parents lol. #binkylinky

I love how this post says to be friendly, instead of the usual tips to survive the mother-in-law like alcohol and hiding 🙂 Thanks for hosting the #binklylinky

Lovely post! Lucky you that you still have mum-in-law, mine passed away 10 yrs ago and I felt sorry for my kids as they don't have any Nan,Gran here in UK. My mum is in Phils. so it's something they will miss growing up. #binkylinky

I'm very grateful for my in laws too, I'm almost as close to them as my own family. But I hear of so many nightmare mother in laws so I feel very lucky indeed! x #binkylinky

Given some of the stories I've heard, I'm very grateful for my inlaws who are lovely. But your tips sound excellent for surviving with anybody – be yourself, be kind, be friendly …!
