Organising a birthday party for four year old twins!
Who would have thought that organising a birthday party for four year olds would be so stressful! R and M started nursery in September 2015 so I was pretty relived that I’d have the chance to go to a few birthday parties before I’d have to start planning our girls party. I was hoping they’d provide me with some information and inspiration about what to do.
The first party was in a hall with a lot of children. I think the whole nursery class were invited. It was a joint party so I could understand the amount of children there. They had a DJ who also made balloon animals and swords etc, plus they had a Spiderman and Elsa mascot.
The second party was in a soft play area of a local pub with around 12 children invited. The children enjoyed it, well what child doesn’t love soft play and food!
With this in mind, I decided that if it was possible I’d like to invite the entire class. I hate the thought of leaving some children out, but this is where I hit my first obstacle. The girls nursery class is quite big. Around 40 children and it seemed that most places I’d already contacted had a limit of 25-30 children. When you take into consideration our twins, their cousins and existing friends that they’re not in school with, that would leave us being able to invite just 14-19 children from their class.
I did some research and eventually found the perfect place. The place that we go to playgroup once a week offered their hall to us for an amazing £30 and there was no limit on children. As long as we weren’t planning on inviting hundreds of children then they were happy!
So it seems that the venue was sorted, so now all that was left was to organise some entertainment. I wanted the children to be entertained from the start, but I know that some children don’t like mascots so I wanted something a bit different from that.
After looking online for some inspiration we finally decided to have a bouncy castle and some soft play.
We’ll bring a cd player with us too so we can have some music on in the background. What do you think? I think it’ll be a pretty good party!

Great idea to have it in the hall. I'd hate to leave anyone out too. They'll have a great time. Pass the parcel always goes down well x
