Our New Home

March 30, 2015

We’ve been in our new home for just over a month now.

Just to fill you in, in case you’re new here. My husband and I lived with our three year old twins in a ground floor maisonette. The landlord decided to sell so we had to find somewhere new to live.

Our new home is a lovely, spacious dorma-bungalow with a beautiful enclosed garden.

Things that I love about our new home:

It’s spacious

I didn’t realise just exactly how little room we had in our last home until we moved into our new home. We really were living on top of each other.

Our bungalow has a playroom, spare room, living room, kitchen, bathroom and conservatory on the ground floor. That’s six rooms downstairs all of which are very spacious!

Upstairs are two bedrooms and an en-suite.

The girls bedroom is just the right size for them. In their room they have their beds and a small unit from IKEA which has a TV on top.

The TV is just so that we can all watch ‘In the Night Garden’ in bed before the girls nod off to sleep.

My husband and I’s bedroom spacious too. I’m aware that I’m using the word spacious a lot, but it really is the best word to use to describe our new home!

We have an upstairs

This is a pretty big deal for me because we haven’t had an upstairs area for around 10 years as we’ve lived in a flat and maisonette.

It’s taking a bit of getting used to, but it’s great because it means we can talk normally without having to whisper in case we wake the girls up. We can have the TV on a normal volume level, we can flush the toilet and have a bath or shower, all without fear of waking the girls up!

It has great views

It’s on a hill, but it’s not too steep of a hill! We have amazing views from upstairs and downstairs.

This is the view first thing in the morning from our bedroom. We live in Cardiff and on a clear day we can see right out to Penarth.

I can’t wait for fireworks night because we’ll have the best view of our city around! We’ll get see all the fireworks from the warmth and comfort of our home!

The Garden

As mentioned above it’s enclosed. This is a big thing for me because our last garden wasn’t. It was on a road and had absolutely no privacy at all.

Our new garden is lovely. When you step out of the conservatory there’s a great decked area. We’re going to get a garden table and some chairs so that we can sit out there in the summer. My husband is especially looking forward to cooking barbecues there in the warmer weather!

Down the steps off the decking and there are two tiered grassy areas. The first grassy area will have the girls slide on and I’ll also be able to fit their paddling pool on there too. The bottom tier has a grassy area with their swings on and to the left is a trampoline – this was left in the garden when we moved in and we’ve been allowed to keep it much to our girls delight!

We have a bath

Our last home only had a walk in shower. I like showers, but sometimes a girl just needs to have a nice relaxing bath!

We have a driveway

Outside our last home we had parking spaces, but they weren’t allocated to anyone. Quite often there would be no-where to park.

It makes a nice change having a nice driveway to park my car on!

We have a playroom

This means our living room is exactly that! A living room! We do have a few toys in our living room, but the majority of the girls toys, including their wooden shop, dress up clothes and play kitchen are all in the playroom.

It feels like home

This is the most important reason why I love our new home. It feels like home.

None of the other places that we’ve lived have ever felt like home to me, but this one does.

It’s cosy and warm. It feels right and it makes us all feel happy.

Wow I would love a playroom and somewhere that could be described as 'spacious'! Our house is so small. It looks fab! x

Looks like an amazing home, and I know what you mean about showers/baths, when I lived in denmark they only seem to have showers not baths, it was the first thing on my todo list when I came over to the UK to visit! Have a bath!
The girls bedroom looks lovely and how fantastic that they get a playroom too! (And that you get your living room!)

Oh, isn't it fab moving from a flat to somewhere that has an upstairs? We did it last year, moved into our first house after renting for years and it finally feels like I have a home! We still need to decorate it to how we want it but that will come in time! It's just lovely having a proper home! We have a downstairs bathroom (it's an old house!!) and I completely agree on the being able to flush the chain and get ready for bed/shower etc without waking kiddywinks up! I didn't fancy the idea of a downstairs bathroom but it totally works! Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
