Our twins, R and M, are three years old.
Around one month ago they received their first ever birthday invitation. A lady I know at our local playgroup has a little girl who turned three and she very kindly invited R and M along to her birthday party.
It’s the first birthday party that they’ve been invited to so we were all pretty excited!
The party was at park which has a miniature railway in. It’s only a five minute drive from where we live, but I’d never been before.
Before the party I had the task of buying the birthday girl a gift – a task which proved harder than I first thought!
I don’t really know much about the little girl other than her name and what she looks like! What if she doesn’t like dolls or drawing or play dough or crafts?
I didn’t have a clue what to buy!
In the end I asked R and M what they thought we should buy and they chose a Crayola Mosaic picture making gift.
They helped me to wrap the present and put it in the gift bag too! They were pretty excited about the party!
It turned out to be really enjoyable, although both girls had a cold so we didn’t stay too long.
We had a go on two of the miniature trains. The one that went through the tunnel appeared to be a firm favourite! We then had a go on a mini tram which great fun also!
After the fun of riding the trains we returned to the marque for some food and to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl.
On the way out R and M had a little play in the park.
Overall, they really enjoyed their first birthday party!

Aww that's a nice milestone their first party! Good idea for one as well. Present buying is so hard isn't it?? I always end up guessing! Hope the girls are better now! Xx #binkylinky

Hmmm, buying a present for somebody you've never met can't be fun! I think maybe if Gwenn has parties when she's older I might have a "no gift" rule to make it less stressful for the people invited? x

I went through this a few months ago. It's nice when you know the other moms, awkward when you don't. looks like the kids had a blast though, so that's all that matters!

For some reason I can't remember Grace's first party invite! Your girls looked like they had a fab time – and what a lovely day for it too. Thank you for linking to #PoCoLo x

I think 3 is about the right age to really start enjoying birthday parties. Miniature railways are are real hit to aren't they. We visit one a lot.
