Renovating your kitchen: cabinet hardware or handless cabinets?
Have you just moved into a new house and are looking to do a complete kitchen re-do? Perhaps after being at home for weeks on end during lockdown, you’ve finally had time to sit down and look at your kitchen with new eyes and realised it needs a change. I know it. You know it.

Transforming the look of your kitchen is as easy as changing the hardware or going full handless. You might not think that changing up the ironmongery or getting rid of it completely will have a big impact on your interiors – think again. Personally, I love cabinet hardware but for the sake of being somewhat unbiased, I’ll talk about the advantages of both options.
Why go for cabinet hardware?
As Ironmongery Experts, kitchen door handles supplier, mention in a recent blog post, “cabinet hardware or cabinet furniture is the jewellery of a room – small details that can make a serious visual impact enhancing the look of a kitchen or bathroom.” Plus, cabinet handles and other hardware come in a variety of styles, designs and finishings, meaning that you will find something to perfectly fit your interiors in a heartbeat!

“Function and beauty are good reasons to love knobs.” says this article on The Spruce. As the article comments, “kitchens get messy daily, and preventing that mess from ending up on your cabinet surface is important for its longevity.” Door handles will protect the cabinet finish.
Don’t settle for boring handles. Having beautiful handles on your kitchen cabinets will also make your style and personality shine through. As Lamb and Bear says, “the right ironmongery can make or break a design.” So, you should take some time to choose the right piece of hardware.

How to choose the right handle?
Home Restaurant recommends going for either only doorknobs, only door pull handles or a mix of both for your kitchen cabinets. Besides considering the design of your door handles, it’s also important to consider style and finish. After all, you want your kitchen to look as nice as possible, right?

Why go for handless cabinets?
The “no hardware” trend comes from the Scandinavian design handbook. It’s all about simplicity and minimalism. Architectural Digest believes that “knobs and long pulls are nice, but they aren’t necessary; even a traditional kitchen can do without them.” Handless cabinets create clean and sleek interiors with no visual interruptions.
