Review: Adult Paint by Numbers from Winnie’s Picks

During lockdown I’ve found myself trying lots of new things such as learning how to crochet. So when Winnie’s Picks got in touch and asked me if I’d like to review one of their Adult Paint by Numbers I jumped at the chance.

I took a look at their website and chose this ‘Cabin in the Woods’ paint by numbers.

As just $24.95 USD, it’s an absolute bargain! The painting depicts a secluded cabin in an almost fairy tale wood. This painting feels almost magical with the rich acrylic colors.

I have to be honest and admit that when it arrived I was genuinely surprised by how big it was.

Just look at all this detail! I’m not really sure what expected, but I was delighted to see that it was bigger than I thought it would be. For $24.95 I think it’s great value for money.

The paint by numbers arrived in a tube so that the canvas wasn’t crinkled or damaged in the post. Inside the tube is everything you need to complete your paint by numbers:

• High-quality linen canvas rolled in a strong tube – Certified wrinkle-free (Size 16″x20″ / 40x50cm).
• Acrylic paint set – No need to mix the colors & more than enough paint to complete the painting.
• Set of 4 brushes – You can start painting straight from the box.
• Complete painting instructions – Perfect for beginners.

The canvas is high-quality linen. I don’t know why, but I thought it would be on thick paper. The high-quality linen is absolutely beautiful to paint on. It’s easy and the end result of each number section painted is simply stunning.

The set includes four different sized paintbrushes to choose from so I’d definitely have a play with each to see which one you prefer. Of course, you can also use a different sized brush for the smaller numbers as oppose to the bigger areas.

One tip on the instruction leaflet is that if you’re right handed to start on the left of the canvas. This is so that you don’t end up leaning in the area you’ve painted.

With this in mind I decided to start in the bottom left corner. At first I switched between colours, but as I continued I found it easier to do a number of the same colour areas at once.

As mentioned above it comes with all of the acrylic paint you’ll need to complete your painting. Each pot of paint is numbered so that you know which colour is which.

It also comes with a handy print of the paint by numbers on a piece of paper. At first I wasn’t sure why, but it soon became evident as I went slightly outside of one of the lines resulting in one of the numbers being hidden with paint. I was able to look at the paper print to see what number is was.

The paint is really easy to paint with. Some of the paint can be a bit thick, but its suggested that you mix it with a little water to thin it down and this works perfectly.

As you can see from the photos above, I haven’t finished my paint by numbers yet, but when I do I will update this post with the finished article. It’ll certainly take some time and keep me busy, but I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result.

Paint by numbers is an amazing way to relax and to take your mind off of your daily stress. You can create your own masterpiece to decorate your home with, plus it’s fun, easy, and makes for a wonderful gift!
