Sassy Kids Box Review

May 14, 2016
We were recently sent a Sassy Kids Box to review. Sassy Kids say that they’re on a missions to revolutionise the way that families shop and spend time with their little ones. They say that they’re helping families to save time and money as discovering amazing things whilst spending quality time together.

Sassy Kids Boxes are aimed at children aged three to eight years old. Sassy Kids Box is a subscription service. Your first box will be half price (£1.99) with a £0.99 delivery charge and other boxes will cost £3.99 each plus delivery. Sassy Kids Box is a fortnightly service.

The website states that inside your box you’ll receive everything for your main activity, super bonus activity, extra fun challenge, family game, good deed challenge card, fun facts, did you know? plus free competitions to win fab prizes.

This is what was inside our box:

Fun Stickers
Colouring sheet
Fun Facts Card
Everything we needed to make a bird feeder
Instruction leaflet with various activities inside

The activity for this box was to make a bird feeder. As mentioned above everything we needed was included: a handful of cereal and raisins, one pipe cleaner and a ribbon. There were also instructions included.

I did this activity with R, as M was poorly, but if she had been well enough to be involved, I think we would have struggled to do the activity together as there wasn’t much for them to share. They would definitely need a box each
The idea was to thread the cereal and raisins onto the pipe cleaner which is then bent into a circle shape. You then attach the ribbon to the top and hang somewhere in your garden.

R really enjoyed this activity, although did struggle to push the raisins onto the pipe cleaner at times, mainly because they were quite small sticky!

The leaflet we had also had a recipe inside to make chocolate nests and also an activity to draw a blackbird. Plus there was a scavenger hunt activity too which involves getting mum and dad to hiding things inside or outside and then the children have to find them.

I have to be honest and say that whilst I love the idea of the Sassy Kids Box it just didn’t live up to my expectations. The bird feeder activity was ok, but other than that you’re just getting printouts of ideas of things to do with the kids and when I think about the cost of the box and equate it to what you get inside it, I’m not sure it saving you money when it’s just a handful of cereal and raisins, a pipe cleaner a ribbon, plus some paper with activities on.

I really wanted to like it, but for me it just falls short of what could be a good idea.

For the purpose of this review I was sent one Sassy Kids Box. All views and opinions are 100% my own.

I love your review and that you've been so honest. Thank you
There are so many of these subscription craft boxes available at the moment, so they do need to add value for money if they're going to be vying to be the first on your doormat.
It sounds like the idea is a good one, but as you said if it's mainly padded out with print outs & papers with ideas on them.
BTW, I think we will make the bird feeder from your description but we probably have all this at home in our craft box already!
