St David’s Launches Christmas Toy Appeal

December 1, 2015

St David’s Cardiff wants to ensure that every child in south Wales receives a gift this year by launching its first Christmas Toy Appeal on December 1.

Shoppers are asking customers to buy an extra Christmas gift for a child in need, and drop it off at the St David’s Donation Station. A team of Christmas helpers will make sure all gifts are delivered safely in time for Christmas.

Running from 1 – 22 December, the Toy Appeal will be supporting six key charities across South Wales – Ty Hafan, Llamau, Home Start, Valleys Kids, George Thomas Hospice and Sparkle.

Steven Madeley, General Manager for St David’s, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting these fantastic local charities to help bring some Christmas magic to the children and young people they represent. Christmas is such an exciting time for us all as we wait to see what gifts we’ve received, but unfortunately there are many children across Wales who do not always have this luxury.
“As shoppers are picking up gifts and stocking fillers for their friends and families, we hope that many of them will also be inspired to pick up one extra gift that will make a big difference to a child in South Wales.”
Shoppers can head over to the Donation Station to receive either a blue candy cane to buy a gift for a boy, or a red candy cane for a girl, which will entitle them to an exclusive 10 per cent off purchases made at Hamleys. The centre is also home to the only Disney and Lego stores in Wales and along with 160 stores, making gift buying as easy as possible this December.
The Donation Station will be in place from Tuesday 1 December – Tuesday 22 December on the lower level, near Crouch and Clogau. Only new products, sealed or with labels attached, will be accepted. The gifts will be delivered between 9 – 22 December. For more information visit www.stdavidscardiff.com/toyappeal.
