Survival tips for keeping your blog alive when on holiday

August 24, 2016
It’s probably the last thing on your mind when on holiday, but some bloggers, like me, who post every day, aside from the occasional weekend, like to ensure that their blog continues to run normally even when the blogger themselves are on holiday.

It’s not essential. You don’t have to blog whilst you’re on holiday. In fact a break away can be a great way to think up new posts and gain some new inspiration, but that doesn’t mean you have to leave your blog content empty.

Scheduling posts and social media posts is a great way to ensure that your blog continues to run as normal. In the run up to my holiday, I wrote a number of posts for the week that I was away and then spent a good few hours one day scheduling my tweets and the odd Facebook post for the same week.

By doing this my blog readers would never know that I was on holiday, and I was able to relax knowing that my blog wasn’t empty and my social media platforms growing cobwebs!

I didn’t have to write all week. I didn’t have to go on social media well either. Well, aside from posting the holiday snap!

Although I planned my posts and social media activity for the week that I was on holiday, you really don’t have to if you don’t want to!

Believe it or not, your blog will still be there when you return. Granted your views are likely to have dipped and your social media feeds will probably be pretty quiet if you’ve not interacted on them for a week or two, but your blog will still be there waiting for you!

What do you do when you’re  on holiday? Schedule like a crazy women, like me! Or just leave it for the week?

I always aim to schedule posts or blog whilst away but it never happens haha. I do usually stay active on social media and let people know I'm away though. #bestandworst

I find it really difficult to stay social media active when on holiday as it seems sort of rude to the people I'm with! But I try and schedule posts as much as I can. It's tough – I like to be organised but with small children it's almost impossible so I try and stay relaxed about it! 🙂 #bloggerclubuk

I normally let people know I'm taking a break so if they stop by my blog and there's no content then they know why! I would love to be organised enough to schedule posts and social media stuff though xx #bestandworst

I think scheduling posts is great. The social media side I try to avoid while away – everyone needs some time off after all.

You are soo organised, I couldn't be chuffed when I went away, I did have all good intentions and just never got around, I try to give myself some time off but can never resist a little social media promo here and there. Thanks for linking up lovely! #bestandworst

I'm like you and work hard leading up to it to be organised and have posts scheduled. Then I can relax more, otherwise if I had none going live while I was away, I would worry more x #bloggerclubuk

I do a bit of both I think. Some holidays I shut down completely, more or less. I might still post in IG or FB and write the odd post ready for when I'm home. Others I try to maintain a bit more activity and still post and link albeit not as much. For me It's important to remember I am on holiday with the family and they don't want to see us staring at ours screens… I do that enough at home lol. Scheduling helps too cx – Tammymum

I haven't really got to grips with scheduling posts yet, but I would definitely like to! Will have to give it a go and see! #BloggerClubUK

I just got back from a week's holiday and although I planned to take a complete blogging break because I do think you're right, it'll all be there when you get back…I scheduled a few posts to go out while I was away. I didn't do as much as I would usually but it was great to know my blog wasn't at a complete standstill. And Social Oomph was great for scheduling tweets! #bloggerclubuk
