Taking children to the dentist

December 30, 2015

The first time my husband and I took the girls to the dentist was when they were around two and a half years old.

I was told that the dentist won’t actually check their teeth until they’re three, but my husband and I both had an appointment so I thought it would be a good opportunity for the girls to come with us to see what happens at the dentist. Introducing your children to the dental experience at a young age is a wise decision, and finding reliable dentists kissimmee who prioritize early exposure and gentle care can contribute to fostering a positive and comfortable association with dental visits. As your daughters embark on their dental journey, choosing dentists who understand the importance of early engagement ensures a foundation for lifelong oral health habits.

They both brought in their favourite toys with them and after mummy and daddy had their teeth checked, the dentist offered to check the girls toys teeth!

The girls were pretty happy to let the dentist do this and before long the girls were sat on my lap letting the dentist look at their teeth.

Taking children to the dentist for the first time can be a pretty daunting process, but lucky for us it went quite well.

I think it’s important to talk to children about the dentist before going and explain to them what the dentist will do. That way children are prepared and know what to expect.

Our girls are three and a half now. Earlier this month we took the girls again for a check up. Mummy and daddy went first as always and then the girls sat with daddy whilst the dentist had a really good look at their teeth.

This was the first time that the dentist had a really good look at their teeth. He even used his mirror to take a look at all of their teeth.

The girls were really brave and it made me feel so proud of them! They were pretty happy with the sticker they got on the way out too!

I think it's really important to stay taking them from an early age, even if the dentist is not properly checking their teeth it gets them used to the idea so hopefully it won't be so scary for them when they get older. Which reminds me, I need to book our next check up! x
