Tidy Toddlers

August 10, 2013

Having two tiny toddlers running around is one of the most amazing things ever. Our girls are so funny and loving and they amaze me every day with the little things they do. For example, M has taken to spinning around in circles just for the fun of it and as soon something comes on the TV with music, R starts dancing! I love everything that our girls do. Well, almost everything! How do you find the time to keep your home clean and tidy with little ones running around?

The only time I get to myself is when the girls have their nap and I don’t really want to spend that time cleaning! When Twin Daddy and I first moved into our home, we bought two rugs. One for the lounge and one for the nursery. The one in the lounge is black and white and it has malted a little bit, but with regular hovering it is malting less and less. When you add biscuit crumbs, play dough and bits of chewed crayon on top of this it can be so hard to clean and finding a decent hoover that works can test my patience.

In our previous home, before the twins were born, Twin Daddy and I had two cats. The amount of fur that came off them was incredible! I have never known anything like it! I’ve had cats as pets throughout my childhood and I honestly cannot remember any of those cats malting as much as these two did. Twin Daddy really wanted to rehome the cats before the twins were born because of the amount of fur they lost. The sofa, curtains, carpets, literally everything was covered in cat fur. I was adamant that I didn’t want to rehome them, so I purchased a special vacuum cleaner which claimed to be specifically designed to pick up fine pet hairs. It didn’t and we ended up rehoming the cats much to my disappointment. Anyway I have come across a website that has a great range of affordable vacuum cleaners from TJ Hughes. They have some great brands including VAX Hoovers and I can see that they have one for pet hairs. I wonder if someone will invent a vacuum cleaner especially designed to clean up the mess that children leave everywhere!

How do you find the time to clean your home? Does your pet malt? If so, how do you clean up after them?
