Tommee Tippee Soothers and Active Straw Bottle Review
- Mums struggle to find what they are looking for when buying soothers, with 1 in 3 mums buying on impulse in store.
- Baby acceptance of soothers is down to trial and error, often with several purchases before finding one baby likes
With this in mind, Tommee Tippee® closer to nature® have developed a new range of soothers, designed to create a great in-store shopping experience for parents and optimise baby acceptance, meaning less time and effort spent choosing different soothers for baby to try!
Launched in February 2014, the new soothers come in 4 ranges – Fun, Anytime, Night Time and Air.
The new large, long, flat teat is easy to hold in baby’s mouth (just like a bottle teat), and in tests, the new soother design was accepted first time by more babies*.
The Tommee Tippee® closer to nature® soothers are suitable to use from birth and are designed with an orthodontic silicone teat to support healthy oral development.
We were sent two packs of two dummies. The first suitable from birth up to 6 months and the second suitable from 6-18 months.
We have never used Tommee Tippee soother before, but the first thing I noticed was a huge difference in the weight of these soothers compared to the ones we normally use. It’s something I hadn’t thought about before, but the Tommee Tippee soothers are incredibly light and I imagine this is great, especially newborn babies.
Active Straw Bottles
Our twins are now 2 years old and they have never used a straw before. We have always used sippy cups and bottles with a mouth piece on. I was keen to let them try a bottle with a straw and these active straw bottles by Tommee Tippee are great.
They’re designed to help toddlers learn to drink from a straw – and it’s non spill which is even better for me as it means no mess to clean up and my handbag remains dry!
It took a little while for our girls to understand that they didn’t need to tip the bottle up to get their drink out, but they soon got to grips with the idea of using the straws and they’ve now mastered it!
The bottles are easy for little hands to hold and the straw is made of super-soft silicone that’s gentle on little mouths, while it’s flip-top lid keeps things reassuringly clean.
The bottles are also insulated which helps to keep drinks cooler and fresher for longer.
These bottles are great and I would definitely recommend them.
For the purpose of this review we were sent two packs of two soothers and two active straw bottles.

I've always used Tommee Tippee Closer to nature to dummies since birth – I love them BUT why do they not have a range over 18months? I suffer from severe reflux and a soother really helps nutralise my acid – the dummies feel a little small now I am nearly 2, I was just wondering if it was purely because they don't encourage children over the age of 18months to use one but then surely that is down to the parent x Ax

Hi Alba! I think it's as you say really because dummies over the age of two are frowned upon as it can affect speech etc. I totally agree though that it is down to the parent. Our twins were two at the end of February and they still use dummies for nap time and bed time xx

We've never used dummies but didn't realise there was such a huge variety of them!
