Why bread is no longer the bad guy!

October 26, 2015
As per the title of this post, I can confirm that bread is no longer the bad guy! That’s because extra goodness has been added to new Hovis Loaves!
Iconic bread brand, Hovis, is adding Omega-3 from seeds, wheatgerm and fibre to its Good Inside™loaves, a unique trio of ingredients providing extra goodness for all the family.
Bread remains one of the UK’s favourite foods with 99% of households buying bread and the equivalent of nearly 12 million loaves are sold each day. By switching to Hovis Good Inside™, parents can serve up a healthier loaf for their family, providing them with naturally sourced omega-3 from seeds, wheatgerm containing 14 essential vitamins & minerals, and fibre.
With this in mind we were sent three loaves of Hovis to trial. We received:
  • One loaf of wholemeal
  • One loaf of best of both
  • One loaf of soft white

As a mum t’s important to me that the food I give my children is healthy and tasty. Here are some of the tasty creations that we made using the loaves of Hovis bread we received.

Toast

Breakfast is an important of our day and aside from cereal, toast is a great breakfast for children. Served simply with a knob of butter our girls really enjoyed the wholemeal bread.

I prefer wholemeal bread, but have always given our girls white bread as they seem to like it more. However after watching R and M wolf down their wholemeal toast, I think we’ll be making the switch to wholemeal a little more often!

If buttered toast isn’t exciting enough, why not get a bit more creative and add some sliced banana. We used the best of loaf for this creation! Kids will probably enjoy helping out with this too so it’s a great way to get them involved in making their own breakfast.

You can even make a toasted banana sandwich!

Next up was the soft white bread. It is indeed soft and also very tasty. This is a medium loaf, but the slices were pretty big in comparison to the usual loaf we buy so you definitely get more for your money.

We used the soft white loaf for some rather British, good old fashioned, beans (and mini sausages) on toast!

I opted for a cheese toastie!

Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed all three breads. I don’t think I could pick one over another. Have you tried Hovis yet? What are you waiting for?

For the purpose of this post we were sent three loaves of bread plus an amazon voucher. All views are 100% my own.

I've had hooves bread before and really like it. I must admit i'm not a wholemeal fan so I tend to go for best of both or white. Glad to see that the medium loaf is quite big. I normally have to buy a thick loaf but will remember I can buy hooves in medium. The banana sandwich looks good x

I do love bread and keep it in the freezer for when I fancy it. Will try grabbing one of these instead next time for some extra benefits! I love beans and sausages on toast. The children look like they enjoyed it too!
