Why fly when you can cruise?

When it comes to planning a holiday how many of us automatically think it will involve air travel?
I for one have never really thought of any other way of travelling. I’ll decide on a destination, use review sites to check out some local hotels and then book my flight separately to try and save some money.
What if I told you that you could actually go on holiday abroad without travelling by air? Cruises from the UK are becoming more and more popular and I can certainly understand why. Especially if you’re travelling with small children.
My husband and I have taken our twins on an aeroplane once. It was a two hour flight, so not too long, but there’s only so much you can do on an aeroplane to keep little ones entertained. They were around 18 months old. I brought a few books and toys with us, but we didn’t need to use them as the new surroundings and noises of the aeroplane was more than enough to keep them entertained, however it left us parents feeling a bit exhausted!
In between getting up and down so our girls could wander in the aisles, we were forever switching seats and putting those plane magazines back before they were ripped by an over excited toddler!

The thought of taking a UK cruise certainly appeals! You can depart from a number of convenient locations across the UK and if you do fancy a bit of air travel you could consider a fly-cruise.
The kids would have plenty of opportunity to stretch their legs, you could wander around the shops or just sit and relax with a cup of tea.
I love knowing that if you are unfortunate enough to have bad weather, you can at least retreat back to the ship with all its facilities rather than a hotel room.
The great thing for me about cruises is that it takes the stress out of travelling. You get to see a number of destinations just by hopping on and off a ship. You don’t have to drive, travel by train or bus, it just makes sense!
Plus you don’t have to go for long. You can book a mini cruise for a weekend getaway without the kids maybe! Now that does sound rather appealing!
Have you ever been on a cruise?
