World Cancer Day

February 4, 2016
Today is World Cancer Day. A day that I couldn’t let go by without writing about it. My sister and I lost our mum to ovarian cancer almost 11 years ago. I wrote a post not long ago about how I feel about it and how it still very much has an impact on my life now.

People say that it gets easier, but it doesn’t. It gets harder. Well, that’s my experience anyway. The primary objective of World Cancer Day is to get as many people as possible around the globe to talk about cancer today.

It’s a truly global event taking place on the 4th February every year. World Cancer Day unites the world’s population in the fight against cancer. It aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease, pressing government and individuals across the world to take action.

Did you know that currently 8.2 million people die from cancer worldwide every year. Out of those people,  4 million die prematurely (aged 30 to 69). My mum was just 50 when she lost her battle with ovarian cancer.

Such an important topic! I'm so glad people are raising awareness of it. I didn't realise that many people died from cancer each year, a cute needs to be found. I'm sorry to hear about your Mum. ❤️ Xx
