Bedroom Decor

April 14, 2015
When we moved house almost two months ago now I knew that I wanted to put my own stamp on the place. We’re currently renting and have been for almost 10 years now. In previous homes we’ve never really decorated or made a place our home so to speak.
Of course we’d given the walls a lick of paint (once!) to freshen it up a bit, but I always had the attitude that I don’t own it so I don’t want to spend my money on it!
Now that we have children and a new lovely home – the nicest we’ve ever lived in! – we wanted to make our mark. We’re hoping that our current home will be our home for many years to come.

Nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to renting, but we came to the conclusion that we live in a beautiful home and we want to make it feel like home for our girls too.
When we moved in the house was nice enough. Almost every wall had been painted magnolia so it wasn’t anything offensive, but it wasn’t anything ‘homely’ either.
I had very set ideas of I wanted our home to be. I wanted it to look and feel fresh and simple, but also modern. I wanted pretty neutral colours, pastels and nothing magnolia!
We’ve since decorated our living room and the girls bedroom. My husband has also given our hallway a paint too. We still have the playroom and our bedroom to do though.
I really love our bedroom. It’s just a bed in a room and I think that’s all a bedroom should be! I hate clutter so I love that our bedroom is this simple.
We have a dressing room downstairs with wardrobes in so we don’t wardrobes etc in our bedroom.
I’m thinking of using pastel colours again. Pale purples, soft greys and maybe a hint of pink! That goes for our curtains and bed lining too. House of Fraser Bed Linen have some lovely sets.

Our bedroom has en-suite too so we’d need to continue the colour theme in there too. This is one of the reasons why I don’t want anything too colourful or bright.
I want to create a serene, peaceful and relaxing room. I’ll be sure to keep you updated with pictures of our progress.
