Buying a new car
Last weekend my husband, Nigel, bought a new car. He wrote all about it in an emotional blog post called, ‘Goodbye Puf‘!
PUF is the name given to Nigel’s old car because that’s simply the last three letters of the registration number. My car is called ‘BOJ’ for the same reason! Our twin girls love that our cars have names and they regularly give them cuddles! We should probably get a custom number plate to add character to our new car.

It was a pretty sad day to see PUF go. When I first met Nigel he picked me up in PUF and the rest, as they say, is history. He’s been in my life for as long as my husband has! He’s taken us on many wonderful road trips over the years.
Even though he was getting on a bit, (the car that is!), and has his faults, damp on the roof, a broken sunroof, a passenger door that didn’t work etc, we still loved him and had no plans to buy a new car. Sadly PUF had other ideas.
The window on the back would never lock so it was always unlocked. One day when driving over a speed hump, the back window flew up and the glass smashed.
You see the problem here is that PUF is a pretty old car and after making a few enquiries online and in person with various local garages, my husband and I soon discovered that this one piece of glass and the lock that goes with it, are pretty hard to come by. After searching around for a good while, we decided that it was time to say goodbye to PUF. Selling our car wasn’t an option as it was in such a state, so we had to send him off to the scrapyard.
We couldn’t continue to drive him around with no window on the back, so our only option was to start looking at buying another car. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to buy a brand new car, even though that would have been nice!

We started looking online and by chance I came across a Ford Focus that was in pristine condition for a pretty good price. After looking online at a car finance calculator we decided to go for it! The new car, which our girls have called ‘Thumper’ after the rabbit character from the Disney film, Bambi, is an absolute bargain.

The inside and the outside is pristine. It’s so much more spacious then PUF and we both love it!
