Caring for your house plants
Much like having a pet, house plants can be a very important part of your life. From making your home look cosy to giving you something to care for and tend to, house plants can be very special.
When my husband and I bought our first home last year, we knew we wanted to fill it with house plants.

Benefits of house plants
There are so many benefits to having indoor house plants. For starters they can help to improve your mood and reduce stress levels.
House plants can also increase productivity and attention span. Did you know that having house plants also physical benefits?
They’ve been shown to reduce blood pressure, fatigue and headaches by 20 to 25%. I was also intrigued to learn that patients in hospital rooms with plants reported decreased post-operative pain.
Choosing the right house plants
Choosing the right house plants can be tricky. A quick internet search can you leave confused as there is certainly lots of choice available. The first thing to think about is what room you want your plant in and what position they’ll be in. For example, a south-facing windowsill will receive a lot of sun during the days so a sun loving plant would be perfect for a sunny windowsill. You can’t go wrong with a cactus or succulent. These 10 x Cactus mixed 5.5cm pots are great value for money and will look lovely on any windowsill.
Caring for your house plants
A common misconception when it comes to house plants is that they’re easy to look after. Some, such as cactus’ are pretty easy to look after but others require more care. For example, we have a geranium on our porch windowsill. It’s such a lovely plant and always surprises me with the colour of the petals as it has a mix of red, pink and white. As lovely as it is, it does require regular watering and pruning. This means removing the dead leaves and trimming back the plants when the petals start to droop.
