Funny Fashion

Isn’t it funny how fashions change and yet most of us still have a few classic key pieces that will always be on trend.

When I look at old photographs of myself from my teenage years, sometimes I could cringe at some of the clothes I wore! I remember one of my favourite pieces was a green, plasticky mini skirt. Oh my god it was awful, but I loved it! I would always wear clothes that were quite well fitting and I wasn’t afraid to show off my figure. I’d quite often have my belly on show and even in winter I wasn’t afraid to wear a short skirt.

Nowadays, I tend to dress a bit more appropriately! My usual attire consists of jeans, a vest and a cardigan and in winter the cardigan will get swapped for a jumper or sweatshirt. You’ll rarely find me in high heels as I love comfort and my trainers too much!

Having said all this though, I would love to buy a new wardrobe and be a bit more fashionable, but I do find myself struggling to find clothes I like and ones that look good on me. I tend to play it safe with my usual attire, but I would honestly love to wear more feminine clothes. I’m quite happy to wear dresses in the summer, but I do find myself in a bit of a rut come winter as I tend to stick to my favourite pair of jeans.

I’ve often thought to myself that I should just throw my entire wardrobe out and buy one outfit for each day of the week, along with a few bits and bobs. Wouldn’t that be so much easier?

Do you find it hard to shop for yourself?

Since having my second child I'm finding it really difficult finding clothes to fit my shape and it has taken all of the fun out of shopping!

I find high street stores like New Look great for well priced items that won't break the bank. You can afford to change your look and be more fashion led too.

most of the time i just stick to jeans and a t-shirt/jumper clothes shopping does not seem so appealing as it used to.

Since I had kids I've lived in leggings and tops. So easy to throw on in the morning!

Being quite large I find it hard to find clothes and stick to jeans and t-shirts much to my mum's disgust as she's always trying to get me to wear different clothes. I did manage a dress for my dad's surprise 65th birthday last year though!

I find shopping SO difficult these days. For the last 5 years I've been pregnant, breastfeeding or dieting. I feel like I've lost my way a bit and look forward to rebuilding my wardrobe after my current pregnancy / BF stint ends!

YES DEFINITELY. It was easy before I became a mummy, now I'm constantly afraid of mutton syndrome (at 30 yrs old!)
