Growing appetites

December 19, 2012

Twin daddy and I took the girls to be weighed yesterday. M is now 14lb and a half. R is 16lb5 and a half.

Over the past 2 weeks, well, certainly the last week, I have noticed that both our girls appetites have grown. They wolf down their breakfast and lunch, and even though they both have a snack between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and tea, I’ve noticed that quite often by lunch and tea time, they are both really hungry.

The girls have a 4oz bottle around 5am, followed by porridge at 8am. I have increased the amount of porridge they have this morning and at lunch time today, instead of sharing one big jar of lumpy food, I have decided they can have a jar each.

The girls usual snacks are a custard or fruit pot and a biscotti, but today I am going to give them a dairylea sandwich and see how it goes. This because we want to start getting the girls onto proper family foods.

Well, I have just dairylea sandwiches. R loved them. M wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. M loves toast and I think because the bread is soft she wasn’t sure what to do. She mushed it in her hand and dropped it on the floor!

All in all, R had quite a bit of the dairylea sandwiches, half a banana, some melon and a custard pot. M had a whole banana, some melon and also a custard pot.

Twin daddy and I will start once a week, replacing one of the girls tea time jars with some chicken and veg. If anyone has any tips, recipes, finger food suggestions or anything else, I would love to hear them.
