Your first Christmas!
Well, Christmas has gone just as quickly as it arrived. Your first Christmas will always be remembered with fond memories. Not because of all the toys and wonderful gifts you received but because it was your first.
I can’t imagine what it must be like for those parents who have babies in special care at this time of year. It’s hard enough at any given time but even more so at Christmas.
I’ll be honest, this was one of the most stressful Christmases we’ve had for a while. Over the last two weeks we’ve moved house and you’ve also had a few taster sessions at nursery.
As well as all this, we really wanted to stick to your routine to give you both some normality amidst all the upheaval.
Christmas Eve was not a good night, which made Christmas morning even more stressful. R, you wouldn’t settle at all and were awake most of the night with a bad tummy. M, you were pretty good. You woke occasionally because I think your sisters crying woke you, but after you had your milk, you didn’t want to go back to sleep, so were up early, around 530/6am and then R was up at 620am, so you both had earlier than normal start to the day.
After giving your breakfast on Christmas morning around 8am, you both opened your presents with mummy and daddy and then we drove to see your Aunty, Uncle, Cousin and my dad. You both had your morning naps in the car on the way and mummy took advantage of the empty roads by driving really slow and going around the roundabouts a few times to give you some extra time to nap! I think daddy felt a little dizzy!
When we arrived, we all opened our presents and chatted and played with you both. Around 1115am, we left to go to nanas house. We had to go home first to pick up nanas presents and your highchairs. It’s a good thing we only live around the corner from nana!
You both slept in the car, so when we arrived at nanas, mummy and daddy feed you your lunch and instead of having a nap after lunch, you opened your presents and played for a while. When you did both have your naps, mummy, daddy and nanna ate our Christmas dinner.
We gave you tea at nanas and then arrived home around 5pm, where you played with some of your new toys.
You both looked so beautiful in your Christmas outfits. We all had a lovely day, although it was a little manic!
It’s safe to say that next Christmas will be spent at home!
Happy 1st Christmas!
