Love knows no boundaries when you’re a parent
Love knows no boundaries when you’re a parent
We make our feelings quite transparent
Wear our hearts on our sleeves
Yet so often hide our more problematic emotions
The early day struggles
Overwhelming unknowns
Feeling inadequate, lost, what on earth am I doing?
I don’t think it’s right
Put a brave face on for all to see
Can’t let them know the inner battle I fight
Must be seen to be perfect
Perfect pictures of our perfect family
Social media portrays it that way
As the children grow older
They become bolder
Less dependant on you, but it’s still me and daddy they cuddle at night
Still me and daddy they stand on tippy toes to kiss
Their first words, steps and smiles
Their first teeth, first wee in the potty
Treasure each day, for all too soon, they’ll be grown up
One day they’ll let go of your hand
Wave goodbye and whisper I love you
As they walk into school all by themselves
You won’t know what to do with yourself
The house is quiet
Your mind is busy
Wondering what they’re doing
If they’re alright
You did a good job
Don’t forget it, it’s true
Parenthood is hard
But my goodness it’s worth it

You're doing a fantastic job, this poem is rather good too. I could never be a parent myself tho x

Love the sentiment here, love really does know no boundaries when you are a parent. Great poem Emily 🙂
