I absolutely love my sewing projects at the moments. My last sewing project really got my creative juices flowing. So much so, that I was in a rush to make something else!
Whilst our girls were in nursery, I looked around our living room for some inspiration and I noticed how many coloured pencils, pens and crayons that they have laying around all over the place and then it hit me! I’d make them both a pencil case each!
I raided my stash for supplies and found the following things I could use:
Four fat quarters of fabric (all different colours and patterns)
Two zips
Yup, that’s all I needed, well plus some cotton and a sewing machine!
I used a template from one of my favourite craft/sewing books, 50 Fat Quarter Makes and set to work following the instructions inside.
The pencil cases were really easy to make and I’m pretty pleased with the end results, as were the girls.

Such a simple but effective idea! These are great! Unfortunately sewing and I don't tend to get on but I would love a few of these to keep the crayons under control as they seem to be multiplying in our house! I'll maybe send your post to my mum in law so that she can work her magic! Dawn x #bestandworst

These are Gorgeous! What a lovely size too. I am hopeless at sewing. We bought our 10 year old q seeing machine for her birthday and I am failing to be any help in learning how to use it!

I'm soo impressed at your creativity and the pictures of the girls filling them up is so cute. I bet they were thrilled! Won't be long before they want to help you sew! Thanks for sharing with#bestandworst x

I love it. Such a cool idea. Whenever I try a craft project I end up getting distracted. Simple projects take me months and rarely get completed haha
