2013 has been an amazing year. We celebrated our twins first birthday right back at the beginning of the year and now we’ve just enjoyed their second Christmas.
As I look forward to the year ahead it’s made me think of what new year’s resolutions I’d like to make. I haven’t got many, but I do aim to achieve them all!
Lose Weight
I imagine this one is probably on a lot of people’s lists. I currently weight around 11 stone and would love to lose a stone or two.
I don’t quite know yet how I’m going to achieve this one. I have a few ideas as I firmly believe the majority of the problem is sitting at a desk two days a week eating whilst I’m working. In addition to this I don’t exercise, well when I say I don’t exercise I do go out for walks with our twins and when I’m not chasing around after them on all fours, I’m usually sat on the floor with them.
I don’t have much time to myself for exercise. When the girls nap around mid-day I tend to blog or just relax in front of the TV and when they’re in bed for the night, it’s time to relax with my husband who’s been out at work all day.
I’ll keep you posted on this one, but if you have any ideas, please let me know!
Spend less time on social networks and more time with our girls
If you’re a regular blog reader you may remember my post a while ago called ‘The Social Media Experiment’. Whilst this went well, I still found it a struggle to avoid using Twitter and looking at Facebook, so I’ll continue to work on this one and again keep you updated.
It is hard to avoid social media when you run a blog as interaction and communication with readers is so important. I try to limit my use to when the girls are in bed, but sometimes if they’re occupied with a toy or book I will sneak a quick glimpse or two!
Go out more with hubby
Twin daddy and I really don’t get any time to ourselves. I work Monday and Tuesday and Twin Daddy works Tuesday to Friday. On a Saturday, Twin Daddy’s children from his last marriage come over and they also come over for tea on Mondays too.
This means the only day of the week we really get to ourselves is a Sunday. The only person we have who could look after the girls for us whilst we go out and spend some time together is my dad, but my dad looks after them on Tuesdays and I appreciate that he wants to spend his weekends relaxing.
When our girls in bed, we don’t have the luxury of going out and leaving them with a baby sitter. This is for two reasons!
Number one, I wouldn’t trust a baby sitter! The only person I trust to look after our girls is my dad!
Number two, both R and M wake frequently at night and the only people who can help them back off to sleep again is Twin Daddy and I.
I think in the new year I will use my holiday entitlement from work more wisely and I’ll book a day off when my dad has the girls, so Twin Daddy and I can spend some together. Maybe go to the cinema and have a nice meal!
Continue to raise money for charity
Throughout 2013 I have regularly donated money to charity. Toward the end of 2013, Twin Daddy and I started our very own charity campaign to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Bliss. So far we have raised an amazing £690!
We’ve managed to raise this by asking people for sponsorship plus we also organised a charity raffle and Children’s Christmas party.
We’ll continue to raise money in 2014 and hopefully raise lots more than we did this year!
Be a better blogger
This one kind of contradicts my ‘spend less time on social networking’ resolution, but I do really want to be a better blogger in 2014!
We’ve launched our own You Tube so you can expect a lot more vlogs and I have a few other things in the pipeline too!
Watch this space!
What are your new year’s resolutions?
