Rocking Motherhood

January 4, 2017

I discovered the ‘Rocking Motherhood’ series by reading a post by Josefine over at My Danglish Family. The idea originally came from Patricia at White Camellias. The idea is pretty simple and I really enjoyed reading Josefine’s post, so I thought I’d join in too!

The rules are pretty simple if you want to join in too:

  1. Thank the blogger that tagged you and link to their blog.
  2. List 10 things you believe make you a good mother (this is just a guideline. It can be more or less than 10. I really don’t mind.
  3. Tag 3 – 5 bloggers to join in the #RockingMotherhood Tag.
  4. Grab the #RockingMotherhgood badge and add it to your post or sidebar.

You can also tag in your tweet @whitecamellias for her to have a read and she’ll even RT it for you.

Hear are my 10 things that I believe make me a good mother:

  1. I’m silly. I love being silly and messing about with our girls. Whether it’s chasing them around the around, doing silly dances with them or teaching them silly jokes! I think laughter is good for you and I love seeing my girls happy and laughing!
  2. I’d do anything for my children and I’ll always be there for them. This one really does go without saying, but it’s true. I really would do anything for them. I’ll always go out of my way to protect them from harm and I try my best to teach them right from wrong.
  3. Ok, this is harder than I thought! Um, number three….Being a mum to twins is hard. Trying to devote and divide my time equally between the girls is tough, especially when they have such different interests. R likes to sit and colour or draw, practise her writing and making things, whereas, M likes to play and talk dolls. It seems they don’t like to do these things together, so when one is sat at the table asking me to draw and the other is sat on the floor asking me to play dolls, I try my best to do both equally and fairly.
  4. I try my best to teach my children to be polite, respectful and appreciative of everything they have and experience.
  5. I love my children for who they are. They’re both so different and have such different interests and likes, and I love them for this. M is proper girly. She loves barbie, pink things and typically girly things. R loves football, superheroes and more boyish things. I think it’s great that they have such different personalities.
  6. I’ll never judge my children regardless of their path in life. They’re only human and everyone makes mistakes. This one kind of ties in with number two. No matter what path in life they take, I always be supportive of their decisions.
  7. I’ll always listen to my children and be open minded. One thing that I could never do when I was growing up, was talk openly to my parents. I was always judged. One thing I really admire about the relationship my husband has with his children by his ex-wife is their openness with one another. All three of this older children can talk to him about anything, and I mean anything. I strive to have the same openness with my own children. I want them to feel comfortable talking to me about anything, knowing that I’ll always listen to them, and make time for them.
  8. Teaching my kids the value of money. This is something that is really important for me. My parents gave my sister and I pocket money from a fairly early age and it was one of the greatest things they could have done for us. It taught me the value of money. I knew that if I wanted something, I couldn’t just have it. I’d have to say my pocket money up for it.
  9. You can do anything you want to be! I teach my children that they can be anything they want to be. It may not be easy, but with hard work, dedication and motivation, you really can achieve anything.
  10. I try my best to give my children new experiences. Whether it’s a trip to the farm, going for a run, camping etc. I try my best to give them both memorable experiences.

I tag the following bloggers to take part if you want to:

Yay for joining in! You are definitely Rocking Motherhood! And I agree it’s so important to me to that Elliot grows up feeling confident and knowing he can talk to us about anything! I would see it as a great failure on my side if he felt he had to hide stuff from us. Thank you for sharing your 10 reasons! xx

Thank you so much for taking part. I loved reading your lovely post. Being silly with the kids definitely allows for the most fun so I totally agree with you and I’m a bit of a clown myself. I also think it’s important for them to know that yes they can have and be anything in life but things are not for free. They need to work hard to be able to rip all the benefits. You sure are #rockingmotherhood
