What we did over the summer holidays

September 6, 2016
I can’t believe that the summer holidays are over already. I feel sad at how fast the past few weeks have flown by, and also by the fact that our girls will now be entering into full time school. Sadly that means my days at home will no longer be spent with the girls. I feel sad the only time I will get to spend with our girls will be the short spell between them coming home from school and bedtime, and also the weekends. I’m so going to look forward to the weekends!

Although I’m feeling pretty sad at the moment, I thought it would be nice to reflect upon on the past few weeks and share with you everything that we’ve done during the summer holidays.

We’ve spent many days with friends and family and their children. We’ve visited my sister’s house often, and gone to her local park, the Rhondda Heritage Park. We’ve been over friends’ houses and had play dates.

We’ve been to two new farms, Walnut Tree Farm Park and Greenmeadow Farm. We actually went to Greenmeadow farm twice as we enjoyed it so much! The first time my husband wasn’t able to come with us as he was working, but we returned on the weekend with my husband so that was nice.
We also took the girls to Castell Coch for the morning. They’d been here once previously as my sister got married here, but they don’t really remember that! It was a nice visit as it made a pleasant change from the usual farms and parks.

Talking of parks, we have visited our local park a lot, along with Roath Park Lake. We had a picnic here, played in the park, met a friendly squirrel and ate ice cream!

I also took the girls swimming in our local leisure centre. Something they’ve been wanting to do since we returned from our holiday in Majorca as they really enjoyed swimming there. In fact that’s where they learnt to swim!

I took the girls to Pughs Garden Centre for their Butterfly Ball which was a super fun craft event! You can read all about it here. We went with friends which was nice.

Last weekend my husband and I took the girls to another local park, Heath Park, as they have a mini railway there. You can ride the trains and the tram! We went for my friends sons 1st birthday party.  It was lots of fun and the girls met another little girl who will be in their class when they start school so that was nice.

I also took the girls for lunch at Thornhill Farm Shop. I love the paninis they do there! The girls had a play, we looked at the animals and we chatted as we ate lunch! I can see lots more girly lunches in the future!

We had our family holiday during term time. We went to Majorca and had such an amazing time!

Last week we met with our friends and their children. It’s pretty sad as all of the children are going to different schools. We met up in Pughs Garden Centre for lunch and had a wander around the aquarium.

We also went down to Cardiff Bay Beach and had so much fun! We played in the sand, went on the rides and ate ice cream!

We also went to the mini railway and daddy came too. You loved riding the trains and the tram!

The summer holidays have been lots of fun, and I am sad that they’ve come to an end already. I know this signals the start of a new chapter in all our lives which will be both exciting and scary.
